Traditional microbial discovery often involves collecting thousands of microorganisms, building extensive libraries and screening them one by one in the hope of finding a promising candidate. It works, but finding a needle in a haystack can be rather time-consuming.
We prefer to know what we are looking for.
Our patented MicrobeTRAP discovery platform takes a different approach. We select and capture the microorganisms with desired properties directly in the soil, which allows us to skip extensive library screening and selection processes in the laboratory.
This approach is a faster and cheaper way to identify the microorganisms best suited for product development.

Our workflow
We have the expertise to dig deeper
We put a lot of resources into research, in-depth analysis, genome sequencing, and in vitro assays to demonstrate the efficacy of the microbes we select.
We analyse its genome for potential warning signs, including genes associated with disease, toxin production and antibiotic resistance.
An important part of the efficacy screening also comes from the initial field trials. A promising candidate with a concerning profile does not get a free pass. We leave it behind.
Optimised, tested and ready for regulatory review
With our own modern fermentation facilities, we grow and formulate selected microorganisms for long-term stability.
Through repeated testing, prototyping and product optimisation, we turn promising candidates into products ready for regulatory approval.
Not every candidate makes it. We're looking for more than a good microbe, it needs to work in practice and make commercial sense.
The field has the final say
Field trial data is essential for validating product performance under real agricultural conditions, which is why we get our MVPs into the field as early as possible.
We conduct independent field trials and collaborate with leading universities, using trial designs that provide reliable and representative performance data.
We also test compatibility with other active substances to ensure our products can be integrated into existing and future IPM strategies.
To bring our products into scale, we rely on external CMO’s. We bring the recipe and know-how; they have the hardware and network to process and run our production that will take our product to the next level.
